Central Park - North Meadow
Pickup currently unavailable at Shop location
Far from the incessant hum of midtown, the northernmost portion of Central Park is a remarkably peaceful zone. This secluded area is home to the North Woods, which were designed to recall the nearby Adirondack Mountains. Also in this quiet corner is the Harlem Meer (a Dutch word for lake), a thriving habitat for fish, turtles, and waterfowl. In contrast to these wildlife oases, the six-acre Conservatory Garden on the eastern edge of the park is a sampling of traditional formal gardens. It is composed of three smaller gardens, each with a distinct style: Italian, French, and English.
This segment of the park is bordered by Harlem to the north and East Harlem to the east. In addition, it is home to the Museum of the City of New York, El Museo del Barrio, and the Africa Center.
