City Plate Collection #5
Our fifth series of City Plates. The theme of this collection is "Visionary Thinking."
To explore this theme, we selected the following four cities: Chicago, Montréal, Paris, and Mumbai. Since the mid-19th century, the World’s Fair has been a breeding ground for innovations in architecture, civil & structural engineering, and infrastructure. Three of these cities (Paris, Chicago, and Montréal) hosted extremely influential World’s Fairs, establishing precedents for their time and providing some of the most memorable structures of the last few centuries. One city, Mumbai, has yet to host a World’s Fair, but represents a future city on the cusp of a new world order, with a potential for unrivaled innovation.
