Collection # 4
The culmination of the notNeutral City Plate collection celebrates visionary thinking and takes a look at four great cities - Paris, Chicago, Montreal and Mumbai - and examines the past, present, and future of innovative architecture and design.
Chicago (Pop 2.8 million)
The Columbian Exposition was more than just a World’s Fair: it inspired a sense of wonder and put Chicago on the cultural map.
It also served to show the world that the city had risen from the ashes of the Great Chicago Fire, which had destroyed much of the city in 1871. The city has since became a breeding ground for great architecture. With a progressive mayor that has championed sustainable practices and subsidized ‘green’ projects during his tenure, Chicago continues to embrace innovation.
These porcelain plates measure 12” across, with each city’s downtown core printed on a black background. Key buildings are represented with red icons, while rivers and public spaces are shown in blue and green.
