The fourth series of cities, Rome, London, Mexico City and Tokyo, are unified in Empire Building (& rebuilding). Empires throughout time have had not only a local impact on the imperial city (the seat of power) but also a global impact-on settlement patterns, national borders, cultural identity, and city form. But empires have a lifespan, how does a former world power adjusts to a new identity and come to terms with a new global order?
These porcelain plates measure 12” across, with each city’s downtown core printed on a black background. Key buildings are represented with red icons, while rivers and public spaces are shown in blue and green. Each plate is boxed and includes a key to the buildings and spaces included on the plate.
